Update: Heather Mitchell

It is with great sadness that we want to let the cycling community know one of our most loved employees, Heather Mitchell, was involved in a very serious biking accident Thursday, May 17.  She has undergone surgery and is currently in the intensive care unit during her recovery.  The weekend held some positive progress, but her recovery journey will be a slow process which will take time.  Her husband Michael requested continued prayers and positive thoughts for her continued healing.  Please respect Michael’s request for no hospital visitation at this time to allow Heather energy to heal and to reduce extra stimulation.

Updated May 23: Heather is breathing on her own and off sedation today for the first time!  Michael is very hopeful and is encouraged by her steady daily progress. Heather remains in neuro ICU and still must not have visitors at the present to preserve her energy for healing.

Updated June 3: Heather is out of ICU and will begin rehabilitation next week.

Updated June 11: Heather has made great strides in her recovery during rehabilitation this past week.  In just a short time, she has progressed a lot.  Because of her intensive rehabilitation schedule, she cannot accept visitors at this time.  While she spends most of her energy on recovery, we can all keep Heather in our thoughts and root her on with positive thoughts.
Updated June 20: Heather is doing remarkably well during her rehabilitation.  The plan is for her to return home at the end of the week.  She is cheerful as always and we are all so happy for her recovery.
Updated June 22: Heather was able to return home today.  What a relief that she could celebrate her birthday at home Sunday.
Updated July 9: Heather stopped by the shop today for a visit.  She is doing remarkably well.  She recently graduated from physical therapy and is continuing to build her physical strength and stamina by walking for exercise every day.  Continue to keep Heather in your thoughts.  We miss having her at the shop and we are sure you do too!
