John Drake began his career in 1974 as a mechanic for his family’s sporting goods store in Saline, Michigan. From there, he moved on to manage Great Lakes Cycling in Ann Arbor where he developed a greater appreciation for cycling.
In January of 1988, he moved to Sylvania and ventured on his own to open BikeWorks. Some may remember BikeWorks’ first locate in downtown Sylvania at Haymarket Square. From there, BikeWorks moved to Promenade Shops on Monroe Street before eventually setting into our present location in 1999.
